Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, founded by Mikao Usui. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words:
- “Rei” meaning “universal” or “spiritual wisdom”
- “Ki” meaning “life force energy” (similar to chi or prana in other traditions)
What Reiki Therapy Involves:
- A Reiki practitioner channels universal energy through their hands, either by lightly placing them on or just above the client’s body.
- The goal is to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural ability to heal.
- Sessions are typically quiet, meditative, and non-invasive, with the client fully clothed and lying down.
